The Olympic Park in Stratford is currently under transformation, with the London Velodrome, nicknamed "The Pringle", set at the heart of a new venue to be known as the Lee Valley Velopark. It is intended that the Velopark will be used by the local community, clubs and elite athletes, and will be run by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority. The site will include a reconfigured BMX track, mountain bike trial, new road cycle circuit, bike hire and cycle workshop facilities.
Condor has been chosen as the official supplier of bicycles to the Velopark. Condor will supply bicycles for the Lee Valley Velopark for the next three years.
All the bicycles available for use in the iconic Velodrome, new road circuit and mountain bike trails will be handmade in Italy, before being turned into a rideable machine at our London based build facility by our specialist mechanics.
Frames are constructed using Columbus tubing which has been hand selected and manufactured specifically for each cycling discipline. The bicycles used at the Velopark are available as standard stock models in the current Condor range.
"We bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this partnership, it is important that users of the VeloPark have the best experience possible of cycling" explained Grant Young, Managing Director. "I am delighted that our product was chosen by the Authority. I believe that the quality, reliability and support we are able to offer the Authority made our bid stand out and it is an honour to be part of a unique asset for London and the UK as a whole. As a British based brand with deep seated roots in track and road cycling and our base in London it is a perfect association. We have supported riders from world track champion, Hugh Porter in the 1960s, to the Olympian Ed Clancy."
Condor's ability to produce custom sized road and track bicycles as well as tandems will enable the Authority to cater for the smallest and tallest of riders. Each bicycle will be supplied with suitable handlebars and components that will ensure they are appropriate for use by a varying range of rider and age group.
Dan Buck, Senior Activation Manager for Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, said of the collaboration:
"We are delighted to have Condor Cycles confirmed as the suppliers of the Lee Valley VeloPark road, track and mountain bikes. To have such a world renowned London based brand supplying the world's premier cycling venue also based in London, is a perfect match, and will help reinforce the very highest quality standard at the Lee Valley VeloPark. We look forward to working with Grant and the Team at Condor over the coming years."
Bicycle framesets that will be used in the Velopark project are the Lavoro (track) and Italia RC (road).
