About this model
Roll smooth, roll fast, roll high. Fast and efficient with incredible comfort, the Acciaio Disc is equipped to take 35mm tyres. It is at home on warm summer Tarmac, climbing big cols, and enjoying landscape vistas. It is a classic steel road frame that brings together a glorious ride feel, clean lines, and the performance of a modern machine. Ride it fast or leisurely for hours and enjoy the best of the outdoors, whooshing through winding lanes.
This model has been a long time in the making — an evolution of our popular rim brake model. We’ve given a nod to the colour used on the 2010 Acciaio, which was one of our best-selling colours to date.
The Acciaio Disc tubing was created over several seasons in collaboration with Italian steel manufacturer, Columbus. We use custom-formed, heat-treated Columbus Spirit tubes, paired with Columbus Max tubing for the seat stays, to deliver not just a lighter frame, but a balanced ride that oozes fun without losing the comfort factor that has garnered so many Acciaio fans.
We specially shaped the rear chainstays and seatstays to provide clearance for 35mm road tyres. Up front, a full carbon monocoque fork delivers a nimble, sporty ride. Its one piece construction sheds weight and keeps the handling precise as you corner at speed.

Custom selected Columbus steel made for Condor
We use a mix of Columbus triple-butted steel tubes to achieve the perfect balance of performance and comfort. The custom rolled top tube is made from Spirit and ovalised for an improved strength-to-weight ratio. The seat stays use Columbus Max, an elliptical shaped tube, orientated according to the specific direction of stress to maximise comfort.
Expertly tig welded by Italian craftsmen
Tig welding is an art. The welds on our Acciaio are impossibly neat and brilliantly finished. This means that minimum weight is added through the welding process, but ensures the join is strong. We are proud not only to make the Acciaio in Italy, but to use material that is made a handful of miles away by Columbus.
Endurance geometry
Channel your inner pro on the cobbles of Europe, tackle century rides, and take to the Italian skies on a big mountain gran fondo. Just like our popular carbon frame, the Baracchi, the Acciaio Disc uses our endurance road geometry and has an ergonomic riding position, developed to keep you comfortable at summer events and long days in the saddle. We have adjusted the head tube length, and head tube and seat angles by 0.5mm, compared with our performance road models, to create a fast-riding yet long-distance-ready fit.
Race engineered fork
We completely redesigned our full carbon monocoque fork to reduce the weight as well as provide more clearance for up to 35mm wide tyres. The straight fork legs transfer a better road feel, whilst the high grade carbon fibre takes away the buzz of rough road surfaces that can zap energy. The fork weighs 400g.
Custom CNC capped dropouts
A new dropout was developed for the Acciaio Disc. It is CNC cut and machined, and designed to work alongside the disc brake mount. We tig weld the dropout at the very end of the chainstay which enables us to reduce weight and create a sleek design.
Clearance for 35mm tyres
Fast, fun and comfortable on rough tarmac. The frameset has clearance for up to 35mm width road tyres. The wider clearance allows for more versatility and compliance ideal for riders who ride in all weathers, are riding over cobbled surfaces or long distances. When installed with wide tubeless tyres the rolling resistance improves enabling you to hold speed on alpine descents and valley roads.
BSA threaded bottom bracket
Condor frames feature a BSA bottom bracket shell. It's an overlooked part of the frame, but a very important one. The lowly bottom bracket doesn’t get much attention, and if it's working properly, that's the way it should be — smooth and silent. BSA Bottom Bracket is a universal system preferred by Shimano and Campagnolo.
Rust inhibiting treatment
After being welded, filed and cleaned, our steel frames are dipped in a rust inhibiting treatment. The treatment provides a degree of protection, particularly inside the frame, against corrosion caused by acidic substances (including water). Read more
Precision welded disc brake mounts
The Acciaio Disc chainstays are sleek in profile, making them lighter, stronger, and allows for more clearance. The mount is precision tig welded into position because there is less material to bolt a separate mount onto. Although welding the mount takes long and can only be completed by our expert craftsmen, the result is a lighter disc mount solution as well as chainstay, without the need for extra strengthening plates, screws or bolts that require more material to be fixed to.
